The 32nd Zigong International Lantern Festival–Part 2
Pushing the boundaries of traditional lantern materials, the 32nd Zigong Lantern Festival introduces an innovative concept: “Everything Can Become a Lantern.”
For the first time, blue-and-white porcelain, straw, recycled medicine bottles, chili peppers, eco-friendly materials, local cultural elements, and even trendy craft materials are transformed into themed lantern installations.
This approach not only reflects the philosophy of sustainability and recycling, but also showcases how handcrafted lantern art can give new life to everyday materials—expressing the idea that all things have spirit when shaped by craftsmanship.
Within the "Future Imagination" zone, the dreamy lantern exhibition “Children’s Creative Light Collection” takes inspiration from children’s drawings.
Nearly 6,000 artworks from children across the globe are transformed into glowing lantern displays.
Lantern artisans become modern-day "magical painters,” turning imagination into light. These lanterns transcend nationality, age, and culture, using light as a universal language—planting the seeds of Zigong lantern culture around the world.
Breaking away from traditional lantern viewing, the festival integrates AI interaction, smart touch systems, motion-sensing lights, AR experiences, digital avatars, and bionic robotic dinosaurs.
Visitors can actively trigger sound-and-light effects, interact with virtual characters, and experience scenes that blur the boundary between ancient legends and future technology.
This full-scenario immersive design connects seeing, playing, feeling, and understanding, allowing thousand-year-old lantern traditions to thrive in the digital age.
For the first time, a 300-meter-long“Salt Street Lantern Market”has been created as a dedicated themed photography street, featuring:
Traditional Chinese Pavilions
Folk Culture Markets
The entire park offers 360-degree roaming performances, with costumed NPC characters following scripted storylines that unfold naturally along visitor routes.
Through interactive dialogue and engaging tasks, guests enjoy a truly cinematic experience of “one step, one scene; one scene, one story.”
This is more than a lantern festival—it is a powerful meeting of heritage and innovation, craftsmanship and technology, tradition and future vision. The 32nd Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival once again demonstrates why Zigong remains the global benchmark for large-scale lantern festivals, cultural light installations, and immersive night tourism projects—allowing ancient stories to shine anew, and letting the light of Chinese culture flow gently into the world.
