32th Zigong International Lantern Festival Preview Part 1


The 32nd Zigong International Lantern Festival will officially open in late January 2026 at the Zigong China Lantern World. As one of the world’s most influential lantern festivals, the Zigong Lantern Festival continues to set new benchmarks for large-scale lantern exhibitions and immersive night-time attractions.

Under the theme "Lighting China, Dreaming the Future", this year's Zigong lantern festival presents ten major themed zones, including Chinese Knot Avenue, Fortune & Blessing Plaza, The Legend of Mulan, Craftsmanship of Intangible Heritage, and Magical China.
With 11 monumental lantern installations and over 200 medium and small lantern displays, the festival creates a breathtaking immersive experience that seamlessly blends traditional lantern craftsmanship with cutting-edge digital technology.

This year's lantern festival is a vivid dialogue between past and present.Zigong lantern-making techniques, alongside tie-dye, paper cutting, and other forms of Chinese intangible cultural heritage, are reimagined through Chinese mythology, historical epics, and classic folk tales.

Centered on the Year of the Horse, visitors will encounter lantern displays inspired by ancient legends, folk customs, and traditional symbolism—bringing the spirit of the Chinese New Year to life through light and storytelling.
