2025 Zigong Lantern Festival Started the Trial Operation
The 2025 Zigong Lantern Festival, also known as the 31st Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival, started the trial operation dated on January 14 and 15 and will officially open to all visitors on January 17, running until after the Lantern Festival.
Renowned as the "World's No. 1 Lantern" for its grand scale and exquisite craftsmanship, this year's festival features 12 extra-large lantern displays, 7 large ones, and over 200 medium and small sets—a record in size. Incorporating intangible cultural heritage techniques like porcelain, Sichuan opera, vibrant colors, blow molding, and paper-cutting, notable themed lanterns include "A Door of Joy," "Abundant Harvest," and "Yearly Surplus."
The "Twin Beauties of Qingcheng" lantern, inspired by the Chinese folk tale The Legend of the White Snake, reimagines the romantic and poignant love story of a humanized female snake spirit and a man through vibrant lights, celebrating the Year of the Snake. Following the lantern named “Tree of Life “ in 2023 and “Jingwei Goddess”2021 lanterns, this centerpiece has become another "goddess-themed" viral attraction at the newest version Zigong Lantern Festival.
